Rudy, a 9-week old Brittany Spaniel, makes a new friend.

Did you know that what happens during your puppy's first 16 weeks greatly influences his adult personality?  You can forever alter your puppy's personality depending upon choices you make within weeks of bringing him (or her) home!

If your puppy is not exposed to new and different people, places and things, he can develop fears that can lead to aggression or withdrawal. If your busy, mouthy puppy is not taught from an early age how to politely greet visitors to your home, his obnoxious adult behavior can lead to trouble!

With behavior problems being a number one reason for pet euthanasia and relinquishment to shelters, getting off to a good start with your puppy is critical to his overall health.

There is no better thing to do with and for your puppy than to take him to Sensible Puppy Class for socialization and training!

Every Sensible Puppy Class experience begins with owners coming without their puppies to the free, informational Puppy Seminar at Michigan Road Animal Hosptial, 96th Street. This is an hour-long presentation covering potty training, how to train "force-free" and the elements of the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program.

Bring your questions, your family and your puppy's vaccination records  (but please leave your puppy at home on this one night.)

In the Sensible Puppy Class at Michigan Road Animal Hospital, you will learn how to properly introduce your puppy to new sights and sounds, what behaviors are worrisome and how to fix troubling behavior.

You will learn to "read" your puppy’s body language and know how he is feeling about himself and his environment. You will find yourself on a customized "Puppy Path" particular to your puppy’s training priorities, with Catherine as your guide. You will learn the basics of teaching manners like sit, come, down and stay.

Your puppy will have playtime with other puppies, learn to accept handling and grooming and find out that the veterinarians’ office is really a pretty fun place.

Once a month, a special guided field trip is offered to all Sensible Puppy Class participants, so you can learn how to "take your training on the road" and make the most of your first year of puppy ownership.   Come along, ask questions, socialize your puppy and just have fun!

Field Trips will  usually be every fourth Saturday of the month.   Email Catherine for location and time. Catherine@SensibleK9.com
